Personalised dog training plan

Behaviour modification training  is designed for dogs who display inappropriate or negative responses when triggered by specific people, animals, objects, or environments. These triggers can be anything—from children, cyclists, other dogs, or cats, to certain locations, noises, walking routes, people in hats or hoods, or even specific times of day.

At the core of these behaviours is an emotional response—most often rooted in fear, anxiety, stress, or discomfort. The behaviour your dog shows (such as lunging, barking, growling, or freezing) is not the problem itself—it’s your dog’s way of trying to cope with how they feel at that moment.

The purpose of behaviour modification isn’t to punish these behaviours—it’s to change the way your dog feels about the trigger. Using structured techniques such as gradual exposure, desensitisation, counter-conditioning, and operant conditioning, your dog can learn that their emotional reaction is no longer necessary—that the trigger is safe, manageable, and not something to fear.

Over time, the emotional intensity decreases, and your dog gains confidence, calmness, and a more appropriate behavioural response. This process not only helps reduce or eliminate unwanted behaviour—it also strengthens the bond between you and your dog based on safety, trust, and clear communication.
